VAN XILEF d.o.b 6 December 1942 born in Basel Switzerland . I lived in London in Benenden Kent in the Marais in Paris in Marbella in Spain and for the last 15 years in Silang in the Philippines while still travelling to other places

What is the synthesis of VAN XILEF’S WORK?

Van Xilef says I stopped painting at the end of the 20th century when I realised that people misinterpreted my paintings as images of impressionism or expressionism or decorative ornaments to hang on walls. My paintings reflect the madness of the barbarity violence nature wipeout and biodiversity extermination the wars and Holocaust of the 20th century that society calls development progress innovation and debtfinanced economic/demographic growth when all it does is fuel wars over depleting resource military money wasting poverty/hunger/migrants for the debtfinanced overpopulated verpopulating majority producing more massive wealth for the already wealthy on mutual ignorance and causes more apocalyptic climate change. 

Van Xilef says: my paintings are warnings and stop signs. My silent period is the quintessence of a future that could be sustainable; a personal state of nirvana within a global state of equilibrium and enlightenment. 

Van Xilef continued to express his critique of a world corrupted by economic/demographic/military/debt growth inflation that fuels more nature/wildlife wipeout and more global heating and more climate change fallout causing more wars over depleting resources more migrants more poverty. More humans now subsist in poverty hunger malnutrition and slums than all humans alive only 50 years ago. A world poisoned by irrationality greed ignorance and insane beliefs that he has and is exposing in his remonstrations on Twitter and Facebook.
